Your Partner in Philanthropy

In 2005, community leaders came together with a remarkable vision and commitment to create a local community foundation to connect our communities with resources that would address current and emerging needs and grow the future of Hancock County. They recognized that we need a foundation that would stand as a pillar of partnership to provide sustainable support for organizations and community wide initiatives, work collaboratively with community partners to instill systematic change and serve our generous neighbors who want to support their communities through charitable giving. These leaders recognized what we still know to be true – when we work together, we can make the most impact to improve the quality of life in Hancock County.

Currently, the foundation holds more than 180 different funds established by individuals, families, and nonprofit agencies to benefit Hancock County, Iowa. Since its founding in 2005, the foundation has served the needs of this area and the wishes of our donors through personalized service, financial stewardship, local expertise, and community leadership.

The Community Foundation of Hancock County does more than simply distributing grants that advance charitable activities. It also identifies current and emerging issues, stimulates resources to address those needs and helps Hancock County prepare for the future.

The Community Foundation of Hancock County has two primary functions:

  1. To receive, manage and distribute funds made available by the Iowa County Endowment Fund legislation for the benefit of Hancock County communities and organizations.

  2. To provide a means for donors to make gifts that address the challenges and issues confronting Hancock County communities and organizations now and in the future.

Mission of the Community Foundation of Hancock County:

Our mission is to foster private giving, strengthen service providers and improve conditions of our communities. To these ends, the Foundation will promote endowment building, community, grantmaking, organizational collaboration, and public leadership for the benefit of Hancock County.
